It's all about your mindset. Nothing I like better than setting a straight course and logging miles. There is something about that drone of the engine, tires, wind, etc, that is perfect for getting into your own head for a while. You can enjoy the ride, enjoy the scenery (and yes, the desert has some very cool scenery), and think far less about the idiots that you find on other types of rides. I can see an idiot coming for miles, and I can see him fade away for miles. Some of the best ideas in my life have popped up while droning along the freeways between here and Arizona, up into Vegas, etc.

And I get paid to do it, because one of those trips is usually to go price a job, or to install the electrical room sign on a building under construction so they can get power turned on to finish the building (that happens way before the rest of the job, so I never need my truck).

I do enjoy twisties too, but that isn't as relaxing.
