Default

They've reformulated Dexcool about a year and a half ago, because of these problems. It originally had silicone properties that would turn to a sand consistency around 60-80 degrees F. Now they, supposedly, eliminated this problem. The old Dexcool required GM to change the metals in their waterpumps to prevent premature wear. It also would eat at the linings of the waterhoses causing the recovery tanks to get a black residue in them. All this because the silicone in it would turn to sandlike properties at 60F and smooth out after 80F..That's why GM advised not to use Dexcool, in vehicles, that didn't come from the factory with it.
