The fuel line....one of my favorite Mr Yunick stories!
He is on the opposite side of my comments about the race bike for sale though. Just because its a race entry, doesn't necessarily make it special. Anyone can enter a race buy paying the entry fee. Entry fee doesn't make a racer. My point being don't take a piece of equipment or shop credentials just by the fact they have entered races. When a shop advertises their skills by putting a "race" bike in the forefront, ask to see the timeslips or the lap times. That doesn't lie.
Nonetheless, I would love to slide that Sportster around the track a few times, stock or not! Just wouldn't get googly eyed by the number plate and fall for the asking price.

Often tried at Bonneville (look for an old record and build and enter a vehicle to try and break it), but there, I give anyone credit for the effort.

I encourage everyone who hasn't tried it to have a go at some form of racing.

You'll find it's not as hard as you might have imagined it.

I'm not talking about winning here. No one wins first time out. (Unless they have zero competition). And most of the uys who THINK they are fast out on the street discover they are nowhere on a race track.

But it's a small and exclusive club. With historic racing you can enter a fantastic family for very little money.

And even if you never win a thing, you can say, "Oh yeah, I raced."

It really is the journey.

I haven’t done the actual racing, just the engine building. (Circle track, drag racing and tractor pulling, but no motorcycles) It’s still satisfying to be part of the effort, especially when the hard work pays off.

I originally put my IH into the Tractor Pull.

(I had NO idea how good those Massey Ferguson's really were. Ended up 4th)
