Yes...we finnish have problem that we have to drink bottle of Koskenkorva before we can come to talk.I think we are so shy or something...we are also very humble and that`s why we think that we doesnt believe that we are able to speak english and maybe that is part of the reason, but I`m glad that you are felt wellcome here!

I used to work for Carnival Cruise Lines and brought about 5 new ships out of Helsinki. All the Finnish I know I learned at Molly Malone's or On The Rocks.

Kippis (don't know how to spell it but I always remembered it cause it sounded like "get pissed")

I used to be able to order a hot dog and those waffle looking fries from the ladies in the carts but that was a long time ago. Loved the city and the people. Very friendly and very out going. I was always impressed at Stockmans department store of all the flags everyone had on their name badge. The flags represented all of the languages that employee spoke. Some had 7 or 8 flags. Most Americans in the same job would be lucky to have 2.

Yes, I think the humble part could be true. When I have to teach machine operators, I usually start by asking if they speak english (if not, I get a translator). Usually they say "no" or "a little bit", but once they get going, they speak very good english. Much better than my french, and when some one asks what languages I speak, I always include french.

Finnish people speak (english) very clearly with little accent, so they are very to understand.

Thanks again for the help with the bike show, it is within walking distance from my hotel, so there are 3-4 of us going this afternoon.
