Default Wow, Was this the question of the day.

Hi again,
Thank you all for your responses.
It's not that the bike only did 100, it's that it did it in basically a quarter mile. I'm not too far off on the distance cause I have measured it with a number of vehicles. The bike wasn't peaked out when I had to let off the gas, it was still going. A hundred mph in basically 1/4 mile isn't what I have been reading about 883's being capable of. I have been reading that they will do the quarter in 14.? seconds but at 100 mph. That seems pretty quick. But if you all say it's so I won't argue.
My 05 is a very late 05. the servise manager told me all the bulletins for the 05's have been done on it. That being the case, the speedo should be right.
Guess I should be callin this the Little 883 That Could.
stargateops, Grumpy

I have had my 06 883, totally stock, up to 105 but it took it's sweet time getting there after about 90 mph. Will try to mark off a quarter mile and get back to you.

you sure the onramp wasn't going downhill at all???

Not to be an ass about your bike, but even a slight downward grade will help a lot. It just seemed to me there may be another force at play given how suprised you are at this whole thing.

That's true but understand that's with a professional rider on board. 100 mph in the quater? Ummm I doubt it.

After reading all the comments here about exceeding 100 I asked the dealer what was going on and they told me that if you want to exceed that number I'd best increase the cubic inches - so I did.

Now I hit 115. (often)

BTW, My bike is a Canadian model so being foreign I think the gearing is different. Can't remember what tthe manual saya about this though.

I am over 200 lbs and my bone stock 1991 883 topped out at 115mph. It went up to 105-110 fast and then crawled to 115. My buddy had a Honda Shadow 750 and used to ride with me, he couldn't beat me but we verified our speedos against each other and I have timed mine against mile markers.

I haven't checked its top speed since all the mods I have done.

Grumpy,

were you already rolling when you came into the 1/4? As you said, it is an on ramp so that suggests to me you were already moving, and if so, how fast were you going when you hit the 1/4? I used to drag a KZ1000 back in the
80's and could easily reach in excess of 100 in the 1/4 from a stand still, maybe you missed the fact you were moving? my 06 883 has only 1500 on it now and hasn't seen 90 yet, but I suspect it could reach in excess of 100, I dunno, Just a guess
