Don't forget Barry's shipping dept. Best rates on parts to Aussies.

Just ask Gronk.

Just ask Gronk.
"Barry's shipping department" is without a doubt the very best I have ever used.

Way better than any crappy online dealership!

Thanx heaps Bazza

I am just asking a freind in US about prices on a NRHS 1250 kit and price on pistons only.
To see if it is worth getting the kit or just the pistons and boring, sleeving the jugs.
Maybe one of us should setup a importers for the sportster clubs in AUS.

I've imported some stuff already ....

and by the time you take import duty, freight and GST into account it's not worth the effort..

and yes there is 3 HD importers in OZ and yes, HD is taking over the import and distribution of HD's

I have bought a fair bit of stuff direct from the USA and if you ship USPS you usually get your gear withing two weeks and save hundreds.
We have a free trade agreement with the USA so the worst you will have to pay is 10% GST.
Most times it gets delivered with no extra charges.
Just don't get it shipped to a business address. or you will then have to deal with customs and you will pay the 10 %

Hi, I import quite a bit. Usually through ebay. The first time it was the forward controls for my 04 sporty from Canada. to save shipping we sent it via land/sea .... and it took verrrry long -- 8 or 10 weeks !!! As well the Canada post tracking number just showed that it had left the country and the next info would be when it is in Australia ...
the best experience I made with Heritage CycleWorks, Canada. Not the cheapest but the Motherwell solo rack arrived in 3 days !!!

GST / tax etc.... private buy, keep it below / split shipments on value on what you can bring - amount dunno.

I recently brought in a couple of jackets, paid AU$520 and saved AU$700 in total from the Morgan&Wacker retail prices. Felt a bit guilty about trying them on in store to get the right ones ; but I'd buy from them if they were playing fair.
Hubby goes to US in November so I have a list of (peripheral) parts for him to bring back with him then.
I haven't really noticed prices have decreased since HD Australia took over importing; though the Qld country dealers are much much happier with the arrangement.
Cheers

With the exchange rate at 84c now, you'd be crazy not to buy from the US if you can wait for them to send it over.

I bought every accessory for my bike from the US, except for the engine guard which would have been too bulky and expensive to post. Most of the parts ended up being 50% cheaper than buying from Oz.

So far no trouble from M and M Cycles, USPS or fedex.
