Hi Stevo,

The Penrite web site suggests their Competition gearbox oil for the tranny. I see you use HPR-15, what do you think about the Competition oil? I think the SAE is the same as HPR-15.

I'll be going with HPR-Gas for the motor.

I'm hoping to do my oil changes before the week-end.

Thanks... Dave.

all works fine for me with 3000km done after the change
not as smooth as syn3, but smoother than the hd dino oil

only carry 2 oils in stock..

Both Penrite

HPR Diesel for HD engines

HPR 15 for all my jappas, euros and HD primaries

I use Penrite gear oil in the big twin gearboxes but I only get that as I need it..

I have a carton (4x5L) of Penrite HD50 for my '82 when it hits the road. I'd use either that or Motul Classic 50 in the Iron motor.
In the gearbox? I've used Sportrans in the past, but like Motul 5100 for gearbox/clutches....and in an Evo I'd use 5100 in the engine as well.. But that's just me.. .. although Motul's new 7100, specifically for big V-Twins, looks interesting....

cheers

p.s. No need for comments about the quantity and Ironhead oil use.. ..I work in the industry, so when a deal comes by through one of the reps, you grab it!

Is there a comparative equivilent oil in Aus to the the SYN 3 that all the Xl forum users seem to be using in the US?
Or will any 20w-50 synthetic oil for bikes do?

Thumbs up

I have nothing to add here, other than to give a compliment to the Aussies

A better behaved crowd in an oil thread I have never seen
