ok so there should be no problem with those wires cut as long as i wrap the ends. until i need them again.

Move back to the sensor itself (behind the belt drive sprocket) & see if you can get a reading there...

To replace the sensor, you must remove the belt drive sprocket...

flaky switch might magically start working again!

remember this is an '03 that was bought new, rode 100 miles, and stored until last year when i bought it. there's a lot of little things i don't trust after sitting still so long.
