You might try this Non ethanol fuel then you wouldn't have to worry about the fuel in the carb.I even picked your state for you https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=MO

Thanks for the link! I'm actually in New York state. The "I'm from Missouri" is a saying meaning that the person must be shown what's being talked about.

I checked my state/town on that site and the corner gas station where I frequently fill up is on the chart. It's a Sunoco station, and that's where I buy the gas for my Corvette. I also fill up my 5 gal can for my lawn tractor. I fill the Sportster up from that. I'll have to check the pump and see if the 93 octane really is ethanol free.

Readings on pg 5 have been updated with overnight voltage drain.

I couldn't get the engine to idle under 1,000 rpm yesterday. It was pretty much a cold engine, only ran 6 - 8 minutes. This last summer, on a warm day, after riding a half hour or so, I'm pretty sure it would idle at a stoplight at 600 rpm.

But it looks like this alternator starts charging between 1,000 - 1,500 rpm, and the voltage regulator kicks in at 2,500 rpm. The generator that was on the cycle (a Hitachi) would only start charging at 2,300 - 2,500 rpm (Gen light went out).

So, I should have good charging running around town, at low speeds/rpms. I can hardly wait for May. (It's 16 degrees outside this morning).

Your battery voltage is good and normal after the amount of time, some parasatic drain the battery very little over time ,you will forget about the genny problems you had after a while ,like I did in the past, with the Poweraythor you would be able to ride around town with all your lights on and whatever you want to add to the bike, and lights will be bright all the time,Ray

Shakedown Report 2020

Nice day today, 73 degrees & sunny; ran the Sportster down the ramp and out of the house. Gassed it up, started it, and rode it around the backyard and out to the driveway.

I only ran it about 20 minutes (mech problem in other thread) but the Powerraythor alternator conversion is working OK. It actually seems to be charging below 1,000rpm, as shown.

My confidence needed this boost. I'm hoping to get the mech problem sorted out and actually ride it on the road.
