Default Shift Lever Interchange ???

(Not clutch lever!)

Even if I get my shift problems sorted out, my foot still doesn't turn down enough to shift comfortably. What I ideally need is a steel shift lever for my 83 XLH so I can heat it up with a torch and bend the toe up more.

Does the 86 shift lever fit an 83??? Both the lever and the shaft have the same 5-digit part number, just the 2-digit year suffix is different.

I couldn't find a steel lever for the 83 but Drag Specialties makes one for the 86. Is the spline the same??? (My dealer doesn't know).

Thank you for your help!

But unable to tell from aluminum. Sellers are showing the same pic & description but not what the material is. The cheap Chinese aluminum levers look like they fit the spline but are just a few thousandths undersize. I have one of those if you'd like it - just pay the postage and I'll send it out.

sorry for the late reply! It's great you found one. The first one my Ebay search turned up was listed as made of steel.
