What a study of history and humanity! I'm 72, started with an 80" Indian at 13(big for my age). From that point on have never been without two wheels, Many HD, Triumphs, Beesa's and others along the way, many that should have stayed. 69 XLCH, 85 XLH, 66 Triumph flattracker (yep still ride it), 67 BSA 441, 2015 Geezer Glide for the trips south every fall. Two of the smartest most talented kids on the planet along with the world's coolest grandson. I have found though with kickstart motorcycles the number of kicks it takes to start it is in direct proportion to the number of people watching.

I'm 66 bought my first ironhead in 1976 ,in the Marines,C1/2 2nd. Mar.Div.Camp Le jejune,N.C.,I bought it at Walt Riddles Harley Davidson,$3200 newXLH 1000,rode it for 10 years beat the crap out of it because I did not know anything about mechanics, sold it and eventually wound up in the seat of a big rig, worked there for 24 years, retired and found a 77 xlh 1000 ,I will have it till I can't,(Marines don't "can't") it cost me $200 dollars more than the 76 in 2010! I keep it pristine,I was surprised at how much I learned from the old one,I wish I could find it so I could un£u€# it and restore it.they cut my pension so I am only semi retired,I am the oldest guy on the dock now too,I am proud I can swing my leg over an ironhead, and drive a rig,an Ottawa and a forklift right up there with the youngsters,I hate to admit it the Internet and phones make part searches better.

In my defense (turn 53 tomorrow) I still own my first Harley. 1979 XLS. I'm the 4th owner, know the others, and I've had the bike since 1985. I also have a mostly original 1977 XLH, a '77 Low Rider, '94 FXSTC, and a '12 Fatboy. That said, Ironheads run in my blood, and will always be my favorite.
