I know it only too well. Incidentally, I think it there is a stronger key available.
Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Default What is the size of this nut ?

Finally continuing the work on my bike yesterday after receiving the crankshaft locking tool.
So I put it on and turns out I don't have the proper sized long socket wrench or open end wrench for the nut. I want to order a long socket wrench now but I don't know the size.
Anybody knows what size this nut is ? Thanks in adv

Finally got some time to get on with the bike
Had to replace the cam case seal. That did not come out and in easy.
After some tapping with a pipewrench and a rubber hammer it came out and to get the new one in I used a socket of the same size and tapped the seal in

I found out that the seal I got from my indy was not right fit.
My cam case cover has an extra pin in it that goes into engine and some parts of the seal are wider then the case.. I wonder what the issue is here. I went my local HD dealer and they told me that the part no. of the seal didn't change since the 90's but engines from 2004 had the extra hole like mine has. And my bike's a 2003. I just bought the seal they had because I was there and didn't know what else to do. Does anyone know what the deal with this is ?
Is there another part no for the newer fit ? Or is every +2003 owner hacking into the seal ? Can hardly believe that since the seal has a metal inside.
Edit: the cam marks look off here but that's because i turned the rear wheel at some point while the bike was in gear.

When you say "seal", are you meaning the cam box gasket? Might be a cultural thing, but over here the term "seal" is generally in reference to a round rubber or rubber/metal thing (like in your previous post). So as I'm reading this, I'm trying to decipher what you're referring to, in Americanized English, but from the picture I'm thinking it's the cam box gasket.

And you're saying your cam box cover has an extra pin? Are you talking about for alignment to the case half? There should be no pins in your cam box cover to align it. There are two pins, yes, but they should remain in the engine case half, and they go into holes in the cam box cover. One of those pins and holes is up toward the front of the bike, near the filter pad. The other is toward the back of the bike, down low, and not in the gasket area at all.

The extra hole you've pictured, near where it says "JGI", is benign and doesn't need a hole in the gasket to match. That hole is purely an artifact of how they connected two passages for routing crankcase oil up to the oil pump's scavenge section. They drill that hole to connect the two passages, and then it gets blocked off naturally by the cam box gasket.

Thanks awsracing. You are, of course, right there is no pin on the cover at that location. I got stumped when I saw the 'missing hole' and apparently didn't take a good look at the cover itself at the time... Thanks for your patience and taking the time to explain. I'm going to everything back together next weekend
And sorry for the confusing English also ! I am from the Netherlands so English is not my first language.
