Thanks for the replies everyone. Her sister is going to let her try all of her shotguns (she has at least half a dozen), and see what one she likes best. She also suggested the .28.

The 20 vs. the 28 you will find greater versatility and shells are way cheaper and much more readily availible, just saying.

Yes they are unless you reload. I find reloading a zen therapy...Chunk, 1 round that fits me and my gun. Chunk...turn the music up...chunk..weigh...chunk, in the box, chunk, weigh, in the box, left hand grabs beer, chunk another in the box. Adjust powder throw...now she is cooking..another in da box. 100 an hour zen crafted.

.410 is right out. Too frustrating for later in life newbies, no kick and very little hits on flight. Great for small game at close range.
Had a bolt action JC Higgins ( sears ) in .410, served well, but can't say good with sight picture on second shot.

Bow with Flu-Flu feathers worked better actually, and my dog could retrieve them better than i in fields.

The dogs become the best part of hunting birds. They are just so goofy and have fun...i don't care if i pull the triggah, watching the dog bust through cut corn stalks, high grass or hedgerows is peace to me. Feckers can blast out, tongue a waggin having a ball. Fat rabbit doesn't hurt if i can get to it Before the dog does. Bastids roll on that stuff if not stopped.
