Default clutch gear change out

My indie says he'd probably go with the clutch gear I have, but I think the dogs look a little rounded over. I'd like to change it while I have the door out. He did put a new bearing in it when he fitted the door to the crank case.

I have a 1 ton arbor press and wondered if this is a job I could do, or should I have it done for me? Any special tricks or procedure?

You can do this easily - it’s a minor interference fit between clutch gear and trap door bearing. Make sure to support the inner race so as not to put a load on the trap door snap ring and ring land.

Good. Now I just have to get over the sticker shock for an Andrews gear.

Somebody on ebay has a supposed NOS one but there's no packaging with it and there's no reason it's not a V-Twin one imo.

Sticker shock on an XL trans??? Just compare cost to a case repair. That will get you over that.

an Andrews gear or a clutch gear? the gears are fairly easy to recognize without packaging.post an ebay link.
