"It is the destruction of history and culture on a grand scale."

I'm sure every generation has said that.

On the other hand, history, culture, and HONOR can't be bought or sold so doesn't get much play these days.

Do you suppose Warner Riley has that engine sitting on a pedestal in his workshop or at home in the lounge room ?

Hi Gene,

In 1971, the big incher went back into his bike:

His later bike had an engine based on a post 72 crankcase:

I have wondered in the past if this Carl's Shop racer was the last incarnation of the 1st Warner's bike, they have a lot in common:

The later bike with the 72 cases, looks like either an XR or a 77 on frame.
I remember Lake Shore s being a "mail order" business providing racers from anywhere an opportunity to get race ready engines, all you needed was the money.
Do you think they had a hand in building that engine or did they just sponsor ?

Don't be silly, why would it be gone now if it was the best ?

And do you suppose Smokey sold the land to the developers and pocketed so much money he retired to New Zealand ?

When you run fuel you will eventually need every engine you can get your hands on. You should have seen the big guns squeal when Nitro went from about $3-400 a barrel to over $1000. All because of the EPA. Those big consumers like Al Teague were fit to be tied.

I went over to Warner's pit one time and he had just started using rubber primary belts. They worked perfect when he ran gas or I would guess Alki. As soon as he went to fuel, BZZZZZZZZ off came the teeth. He was just shaking his head.

Rick: You are right, every generation complains about how bad things are getting. But they weren't busy ripping out statues of everyone they disagreed with. History is what happened and it celebrates the good with the bad. Commies destroy history so they can change it to meet their needs. When stupid ignorant pinheads rip out a statue of A. Lincoln and tell you to love rioting black folks at the same time, we are in deep shit. While this was going on , America was arguing about mixed gender bathrooms. 2% of the population is leading the other 98% around by the nose.
