Default 1999 S upgrades

so it is time as the XR-1000-RX project comes together to show my 1999 1200S some love... I have a second set of XR1200X Forks and triples and I was made a couple extra sets of 1" bearings for 3/4 wheels... but the sickness flared up again and I found 18" XR1200X front wheels are pretty reasonable from the MOCO and Fleabay... SOOOOO its 18" XR1200X wheels front and rear with Dunlop Trailmax mission tires in 140/80-18 rear and 120/90-18 front... I am really pleased with the Bates tires and they lasted about 2500 miles. but they were just a little too soft a compound for me and the stock wheels are in need of some restoration... I'll also disassemble the factory two piece factory rotors, refinish the centers in caliper black and reassemble with titanium full floating buttons... that should freshin it up a bit and get even more weight on the front!!

I'll put up some pics as I pull the "used" mockup XR1200 parts off the XR-1000XR and install them on the 1999S. I have all new parts for the tired XR...

Looks cool... if i live somewhere that was more than one paved road and the speed limit was more than 45mph... that or a baker 6... as it is i'll settle for currently up 1 on the rear sprocket and down 1 on the front... i could use another tooth down down the front (its in the spares kit) for all these rock gravel mud and sand roads that i run... thats why i have been trying 70/30 and now 50/50 tires...

They sound like a log truck bud but you can throw rooster tails 10ft in the air and I've yet to get stuck pulling a sidecar.

I to have a 99 1200s and I'm hunting for a new ignition module. I know the HD factory or SE ones are about like dinosaurs these days but...

they are indeed rare these days... I have been looking for a spare for some time... i have a spare NOS coil and a couple sets of SE wires for it... i was looking at the aftermarket and there appears to be programmable units in the same form factor... someone was contracted to build them for the MOCO so....
