I'm averaging 5k miles for the last four years.
Other than tires, bulbs, oil and adjustments it's been pretty straight up.
I just rebuild the carb but the bike is 17 years old and probably hasn't had much done prior.

Amend that last post: shifter return spring broke at 27,700 miles.
I'm grounded for a while.

I've had no problems in 35k k's, as of Aug'18, on my Sportster (bought used in Jan'16 at 8k k's)...apart from an addiction to changing things out! But I don't really see that as a problem. Even my clutch is still going fine!
I'm grounded for a long time!

55,000 miles on a 2005 883 low. Regular matinence. One leaky rear rocker cover gasket. Replaced the clutch with the screaming eagle one because of people warning me about it on this forum. Turned out the rivets were still just as tight as new. had a leaky diagram in the carb probably from the new ethanol gas. Other wise a perfect bike. Bought a 2015 super low to convert to a trike but keeping the 2005 till I'm in the ground then my grandson gets it

Getting close to 17,000 miles on my '17 SuperLow, only 'problem' I've had was a check engine light coming on. Cleared the code and it hasn't come back so I guess it was a fluke thing. The bike has been as reliable as an anvil.

I haven't had any real problems yet but then I've only had the bike a few months (5). It was a bit hard to start at first (I re-jetted the carb and all is good). I ride about 3-5K miles a year.

I ride every day, except when it's raining. The mileage was not the point-
the question was about reliability/problems. Thanks for the reply and keep
enjoying your Sportster!
Wow 1,667 miles in a year and a half. Your butt must be made of steel to endure that kind of mileage

I bought my 2005 XL883 with less than 10K on it, after it had been sitting in a garage for several years and was coated in dust. All the fluids were dark and the seller wasn't sure how many miles were on the motor and primary oils (both black when changed). The battery was the only thing non-stock. I replaced all the fluids, air filter, oil filter and ran new non-ethanol gas with cleaner after draining the tank. After putting the battery on the battery tender overnight, it fired right up and ran perfectly. Since then I've added 7K miles (still riding every time the temp goes above 50 degrees F) and it continues to run perfectly.
I've done no repairs but I've been pro-active in preventing future problems/repairs by replacing the vacuum petcock with a Golan manual one, replacing the spring plate aka "grenade plate" with stock plates, replacing the stock clutch throw-out bearing with a FAG 7200B bearing and modifying the stock crankcase vent system to vent-to-atmosphere instead of venting the hot, oily bad breath back into the air intake. I haven't had to adjust anything at all to improve the running quality. Love it!!!!

Default The Battery cover has to be zip tied on

I went through the effort of replacing the tab on the frame to hold the cover in place. I took off from a light and it fell off and was run over by something bigger than me. The PO had zip tied it on and I thought he was just cluging it together. Nope it is by design. so there is that. you would think HD would have used zuss fasteners to retain it. Have a seeping seal at the shifter but I don't think its a real issue, yet. May be from the crash the PO had on it. so battery cover retention system.
