I’d think you could put 6” Z bars or 6.5” narrow mini apes as long as your not using pullback risers.

I put Lowbrow Cycle Standard 6.5” narrow mini apes on 1996. The brake line has to be bent / reshaped a little. Eventually I replaced it with stainless.

I searched and read threads on this forum beforehand and found that riders have put 6” Z or 6.5 mini narrow apes with stock cables... on many different year bikes.
Some manage 8” or 10”.

I also removed my top clamps, and checked how much I could raise them before buying new bars.
