Default CV-40 for 88’ 883 Still leaks overflow/rebuilt

So after the rebuild of an original cv 40/no pump style the new float needle won’t seat and subsequently lfills up the bowl and out the overflow. So now I’m in the market for the 92-06 model to get me through the rest of the season until I put the SS super E shorty on for next year. Any suggestions on what to get in a pinch. I’ve seen the cv40 on eBay new for $60 but they are most likely China made ones I suppose.

Check the needle tip and it’s seat might have a nick or a burr. Float height double checked? Those inexpensive CV40’s for sale may be China knockoffs or just someone changing to a Mikuni or S&S.
Check in Sportsterpedia, link below, as they have an excellant sectionon the CV.
