A bit late, but you need a better puller than what you were using. A real two jaw probably would have worked just fine. Or a bearing separator/puller combo.

I didn’t want to buy expensive specialty tools that store might not take back and not work.

That was a good two jaw. It started bending and didn’t want to run the risk of end of shaft getting messed up.

There was no budging it at all since was twisted over timing key.

split the cases!!!!!

You can BET some of that went into your engine.

That pump didn't lock up. It grinded to a halt.
You have a lot of damage in the return side and bad scoring on the feed side.
You are going to need a full body cavity cleaning.
The shavings from the teeth on feed side surely hit the oil filter.
The oil filter has a bypass built into it so in case it stops up, it opens unfiltered oil into your engine.

The pics inside the body show how something (presumably drive gear teeth) entered the return side thru the front cam port and got drug thru.
Metal in the feed cover came from the tank via the return side of the pump.
