Default Starter

It's uncommon to have oil leaking up so high but I guess some slinger/o ring can't hurt. The whining you hear I believe is the bendix drive. To check it try to rotate the gear. The gear should only turn in 1 direction and positive lockup (no rotation)in the other direction.

After reading the supplied history. Thanks for that.

Rokytnji- I’ve had the bike about 6 month, rode it a handful of times and wanted to address the oil leaks. The guy I bought it from said it always leaked and he had to constantly add oil.
I'd concentrate on straightening electric start problem first and get it sorted.
Drain motor, primary, then start from scratch with fresh oil and filter < if it has one >

Primary I would temporary use Type F tranny fluid since it is red and easier to find leak points. Plus I have gallons of Type F. Using the phillips screw removed on bottom of facing side on outer primary that is used as the oil level . When tranny oil starts pouring out. I know I am OK on level.

Ride around again and then see what oil migrates where.
Anyways.

That is how I would handle this.

Default Starter Bendix

Just a note when you try to remove the bendix drive shaft nut reminder it is a left hand thread.Turn clockwise to loosen.
