I'm just picking on ya, I really appreciate the help guys. I'll post back once I get the chance to get everything checked out.

I was going to try and dodge the VOES description to keep the thread simple but it makes the thread a little more complete for the people that have my set up and aren't as fluent with the components.

Thanks -

I was a little confused by your earlier comment 'advance completely' - but on re-reading it, I realize you meant it would switch to the curve that allowed the advance to go completely max (rather than being limited by the retard curve)... That's why I emphasized that particular wording...

Anyway, it DOES help future readers to have a more complete view of the issue (and possible solution)...

Good luck - If you post the module number, I'll try to find a curve chart for it...

This thing looks like it's never budged except for vibrating in place.

The original part number year is there's but barely visible. There wasn't and EIM in 64 so I think it's safe to assume -84 part number.

I grounded the VOES to set the MAX advance curve for the bike at 52-53 BTDC. I haven't been able to test ride it yet, but that might be a little longer. Come to find out the regulator took a crap and is charging at 18V. (Another reason I like my timing light) I would probably never found out about that till I started burning light bulbs and my OG ignition module.

I would HIGHLY recommend everyone here on the forum to drop the $100 on the fancy timing light. It's been long lived with weekly use for a couple years now.

Once we get the grounding VOES to set max advance confirmed, I think we can add that information to the sticky to prevent future confusion. I did test the timing that I set yesterday with the VOES connected to EIM and in regular operation, while grounded, and it was spot on exact where I left it. So my scoot doesn't drop enough vacuum sitting still to open the VOES circuit. We can probably have a couple others verify this operation for future reference too.

Hmmm - Only partial numbers - Was there anything printed on the other side of that incoming cable?

Here's the info I found thus far:

Other modules I was told would replace these are 32399-84A, 32411-80A, 32436-91A. I know this because I had to research this a few years back for my 82.
If this is of no interest, I'll delete the post and move on...
