A new 48, headlight upgrades, that cool speedo and fuel gauge, La Rosa swing arm bags, a nice sissy bar and luggage

A bolt on 1275 conversion on a carbed Rubbermount without exhaust mods would run 3700.00 in parts.

Starting with a decent '91-03 with mid controls and 19" front wheel...

XR1200 crank kit.........................$1470
88" Axtell iron cyl's & case prep.....$1245
Hammer Sledge head work...........$1100
Sledge 600 cams...........................$350
Daytona Twin-Tec ignition..............$300
Pushrods.......................................$65
S&S lifters....................................$130
304 SS tube bends & muffler..........$250
Total..........................................$49 10

Cool, I've got enough left over for pizza!

There's actually a few little more things to do, such as a good air filter to go under the OEM cover, and good single fire coil, but $5000 would get a good solid base.

Eventually, that stock carb would get round-filed in favor of an HSR48 & billet manifold, but that's easily done at a later date.

Not sure why only 1200s are in the poll, it doesn't matter to me since I've enjoyed touring on both my 883 and 1200. The only reason I would choose my 1200 is because it's a simpler rigid mount and more raw, basic and 'old-timey' than the rubber 883. As far as what I would do with it, probably nothing after ridding it of the grenade plate. That leaves me almost $5K to buy gas, strap my bedroll onto the sissy bar and ride it until the money runs out.
