To preserve originality the exploding gears in the trans were retained to maintain that question mark every time you select 2nd or 3rd.

Very well put. It is what it is. I guess it is for a Purist.

Not craiglist. But looks like a decent deal in New Hampshire

Seller's Description
1973 XLH Sporty 1000. Runs, rides and will stop once the brake rebuild kit I have is installed. Electric start works, carb could use a cleaning. Leaks oil as they all do but I’ve got a primary gasket for the new owner as well. Will throw in a 100th anniversary tool roll and some odds and ends I have for it as well. $2800 obro bike is listed here and a few other places as well as sitting in my driveway with a sign so it will be gone sooner then later so please don’t waste mine or your time with lowball offers. Classic Ironhead sporty from almost 50 yrs ago virtually untouched beyond an S&S carb. Getting harder and harder to find these days so don’t sleep on it
