I've been thru weeks of countless hours through XLF threads.
I'm sure I haven't combed everything yet though.
What is in the Sportsterpedia now is a compilation of the stickies and whatever else I can find on the Bendix that I can include there.
Basically I'm trying to tie up loose ends at this point.

Hippy, sorry - I completely missed these posts. Do you still need anything? I’ll get out into the garage later and take any photos you need. Happy to contribute anything I can to the Sportsterpedia, only wish I had more time to put stuff together myself like we discussed a while back.

I've been meaning to contact you but every time I think I've found everything I can, I find something else.

If you still have the factory tube and pics of it, I'd appreciate that.
Specifically, it being a "C" tube, we need the dims.
I found a replacement tube on the net but it doesn't give the jet size but the length 3-1/8".
Part Number: 35-0533

Hey, Hippie! Would contacting Zenith Bendix in Va help the search?

That is on my list of things to do.
First, I wanted to collect as much info as I can from the forum.
I just noticed today that photobucket is now blurring pics on the forum in addition to the branding.
I've been able to get around this so far but it is very time consuming.
I get this 'running out of time' feeling with the pics from PB.
So I've been trying to beat the clock.
You guys have a very extensive list of information on the Bendix already here.
Bringing it all into the wiki format hopefully will help the next guy faster.

I am learning as I go with questions and issues that maybe Zenith can help with.
I can compile a list now but I want to have something to show when I contact them.

I would hope to gain access to information on the older carbs.
They still produce the replacements but not the ones we'll end up finding on Ebay and running.
I made this drawing yesterday to put in the Sportsterpedia as I can't post the originals.

I found this on the net also.
BendixCarb.pdf

This is the type information I would like to get permission to post in the wiki.
So I haven't gotten all my ducks in a row yet.

Hippy, here’s the fixed main jet. 3-3/16 more like, but I have no idea if this is original (though judging by the corrosion it probably is):

Those last measurements made with some carb cleaning wires, very much approx. If anyone can suggest a better way to measure let me know. Anything else you need just ask.

Hope the pics are OK, happy to give you some more.

So I haven't gotten all my ducks in a row yet.

If I might comment on your drawing (very nice).

I would mention that with the 3/16 drill bit measurement it’s disputed whether this should be made with or without the gasket, but it makes more sense to take the measurement without (Sensible argument A: gaskets vary in thickness, if used will be further compressed / Sensible argument B: How accurate does it really need to be?).

The long leg of the spring should ‘rest against the inside of the float bowl’. I’d avoid the word ‘sandwiched’, as

1) it makes me hungry
2) there’s a lot of talk of the leg getting ‘sandwiched’ under the gasket - definitely wrong.

On bending the float tab, worth mentioning that very minute adjustments add up to a lot of difference in height.

Thank you very much for the pics and dims of the tube.
I've added those pics on the carb ID page.
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...b01k#idle_tube

That brings up another question.
The dims that DD posted, were those dims just for the 72-74 carbs?
Then were 75 up tubes subject to yet another size change?
"C" tubes were not even mentioned in the parts books, I assume since it came as part of the carb body and not a replaceable item from the MoCo.
I am hoping Zenith can shed some light on some of these questions at least.

I changed the wording on the drawing. I agree, that was stated wrong.
I also added the discrepancy of using a gasket or not and your mention of easy on adjusting the tab.
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...:carb01l#float

I'm using an aftermarket float valve which, come to find out, is taller than the OEM one.
It works fine once set but getting it there was fun.
I had to suck on the inlet hose to feel the exact moment when it sealed to set the level on my CV.
A 'light' seat kept ending up with overflows.
