Default tachometer on 2012 Custom

Has anyone installed a tach on their 1200 custom? Is it a hassle, or pretty much a straight forward install? Thank you!

Here's the Sportsterpedia section on Tachometers:
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...03#tachometers

What tachometer are you looking to install? That will determine what you need to do to connect it properly.

I am looking at the type my '05 1200 Custom has; a factory option I was told; Chrome housing that attaches to two of the bolts and sits above the stock speedometer. It has an opening for viewing the led's on the speedometer.

Identify the part numbers of what you want... Tach, housing & bracket

Here's the installation instructions for the 68953-04 model (I expect it applies to the other face variation models as well):
https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....ocument/215962

Those instructions indicate how to pick up the proper trigger signal for the tach - For 2007-2013-MaybeLater models, the trigger signal (using the Pink wire) comes from the Speedometer Connector, Pin3 (normally no wire there).
