Rebuilt my 2006”R”, at 99,990 miles as was getting some unpleasant noises from the lower end. Don’t believe any bad parts involved much more likely the heavy amounts of flogging subjected to the machine. That’s entirely on me.

For anyone that reads this thread in the future-

Hammer performance can get your crankshaft repaired by Dark Horse crankworks.

What's the Best Crank?
Starting in 2008, all Buell cranks got a new 1.5" crankpin, as did the XR1200 model.
All other XL and Buell cranks came with a 1.25" crankpin.
The larger 1.5" piece greatly increases the rigidity of the crank, resisting "spread" which can cause pinion runout and breakage.
These cranks are a bolt-in replacement for 2004+ XL and 2003-2007 Buell XB models, if you buy the alternator/rotor assembly (available in both 34 and 38 tooth sprockets) and the bolt and washer as well.
They can be fitted to 91-03 XL's and 95-02 Buells with a special machining service offered by HAMMER PERFORMANCE.

Flywheel assembly:
23999-08 3.813 stroke (XL1200, XL883, XR1200, XB12)
24234-08 3.125 stroke (XB9)
Front sprocket/rotor assembly:
30029-08 38T version for use with 96-link primary chain 40147-04 (stock gearing for XL1200, XB12)
4589 bolt
6445 washer

In addition to the above, when you replace the sprocket shaft bearing (which should be done while you're in there), get the heavy-duty SE piece.
It's part number 24004-03B. The dealer will try to tell you it's a Twin Cam part. Ignore him.
Twin Cams and 2004+ XL's and all Buell XB's use the same sprocket shaft bearing.
