I went to the 80th Black Hills Motorcycle Classic (Sturgis rally) "super spreader". Very few masks were seen and the social distancing was apparent, I don't think anyone bumped into me at all. People were still shaking hands, laughing yelling/cheering, etc. It was almost normal. The biggest difference between this year and the years past was the number of motorhomes/toy haulers and all the high dollar custom bikes people brought. Motorhomes were 3-4 times more and tents were down to less than 1/2 of previous years.
The study on the virus, for this event, was only based on a "model" and not a single Medical Journal would publish it. The study was published on the website of The Institute of Labor Economics. It was based on 1 day of UBER testing and the "model", no reality figures were used. They ended the UBER testing after 1 day because it wasn't producing any results they could use. The first reports I heard about said 7 Minnesota riders tested pos. a week later. Friends in Minn. said they more than likely got infected locally. Same with the 1 or 2 from Wyo. and Colo. I'm more inclined to believe this (after attending and observing what was going on) and stopped keeping track of any more cases.
The State of S.D. reported reduction of cases after the rally and no more hospitalizations or deaths. So, you tell me, who do we believe?
I hear a lot of people saying we should have followed Sweden's response (herd immunity?) but I've never seen anything that has told me what exactly they have done and why it's better than the U.S.'s. Is it being suppressed or is it just not there?

Hell. I just packed up a wifes girl friend < coworker> to move from covid free west Texas to Ashland Oregon.
