I have an 2005 sporty and want to covet to a side mount tail light without doing a huge amount of work. How can I go about this?

Is your inquiry mechanical or electrical?

What do you want to different from stock?
Only tail /license plate on the side or brake, also?

Do you have a schematic?

Did you see the first page of this thread? Cosmo provided all of the wiring diagrams and options, and I posted pictures of the harness I made.

It take a little coordinating, and I did it the hard way with the same Harley connectors, because I removed and wanted to keep my stock harness which is still for sale on ebay, lol.

If you want to cut up the stock harness and solder shouldn't be too hard.

Default Trouble installing a 3rd brake light

I have an 05 Sportster. It came with a bobbed fiberglass rear fender. I just repainted the bike and am putting it back together. I had previously lowered it too much and wiped out all of the rear wiring. I am putting it back together but having trouble with the new single element third brake light I am installing. I seem to have power at the red/yellow whenever the key is on. Even when I disconnect the wires from the brake switch. What am I missing here?

accessory fuse feeds o/w to front and rear brake switches
r/y come from both switches and are joined to go to the brake light
What happens when you pull accessory fuse?
did you disconnect r/y from BOTH brake switches?
most likely front or rear brake switch is stuck on

Thanks for the info! I did not know there was two switches. I was thinking like a car with only one because all brakes work together..... but DUH..there would have to be two. I will check the front one tomorrow. That is most likely the culprit. Thanks again
