The difference between I beam and h beam is the flange. The I beam has a slant flange and the H beam has a flat flange. As a reference look at a channel, they have a slant flange and a angle iron who has a flat flange.

both beams can be used in any position
trolley are of many types and not necessarily inter-changeable.
beams can be tricky when doing arch turns, more cost. tubular is a snap.
if the need is no so heavy, internal trolley channel can be used and it also is favorable to turns.
this is like a box beam with a groove cut out one side, trolley tracks in side the channel. you will see large doors hung this way. my "x" shop doors were like that till i had to redo them and went swinging hinge.

In a Cat shop I worked in years ago each tech had a Jib crane bolted to the wall over their work bench for moving units.
