Default My 2000 883/1200 dyno run today

Three years ago I went to a HP shootout at Koups Kawasaki with the sporty. I messed up and had the rev limiter set to 5k. It made 80hp before bouncing off the rev limiter. With a SS shorty E carb.

The specs are 1200 kit, 257degree 497 lift cams, ported stock 883 heads and bigger valves, and RBracing 2-1 exhaust.

Today I went back. It was a Baro of 30.04 and 75% humidity. I had 82hp and 73 ftlbs of torque with same above setup with the exception of going back to the 40mm carb. It was also blowing a 12.0:1 AF above 5000rpm.

Everyone ignored it rolling up to the dyno until they all heard it warming up and reving out so quick. It's a fun ride. From this run I'm going to richen up the needle 1 washer and go down 1 on the main jet.

This is the plug I put in in the beginning of spring. This is the rear plug from the hotter cylinder. The front colder cylinder is slightly darker.

The plug is a DCPR8EKC. It's 1 heat range colder than stock.

I like the fact it's a unshrouded spark. Adding them increased my idle 200rpm. Backed it back down to 800-900 afterwards. Feels like more off idle torque and crisper throttle response.

Both pictures are same plug

To me it's a unshrouded spark. Meaning the spark kernel is not hidden by the ground arm. And with two places to spark it will spark where the least resistance/ highest concentration of fuel mixture is. (More complete combustion bla, bla, bla....)

Thats a pretty long reach plug !
My motor would probably pound those shut instantly or break the center electrode

They were no longer than the Autolite plugs I pulled out. More exposure to mixture.....

I'll pick up a pr and have a look !
However your logic is flawed !
It's easier to light a lean mixture.

It still light any mixture faster or more completely. But I agree with the leaner mixture. I put a set of BKR6EKB-11's in my 02 Saturn SL1 a while ago and liked the extra grunt. Didn't notice using the AC as much as before. And others on the SaturnFans forum that tried it mentioned it also.

I wish they were available in a heat range 7. But I'm running 2 colder in my Saturn with no issues and much less active knock retard. (I can monitor it with my ScanGauge)

Also I'm pretty sure I put them side by side with the correct NGK plug and length was identical. Compare them at the shop.

Even the DCPR8E plugs have to be indexed in my 1250 or the pistons will close em up.
These MIGHT work if I index them.
