98. I think I got that backwards though. The shorter ones are for using forwards since the mid bracket comes off during the swap to forwards.

I've got a scan of the instruction sheet I can post when I get home tonight. It gives some dims for the motor mount bolts I believe but it doesn't for the replacement bolts for the mid mount holes.

The rubbermounts have the same size screws for the forward control brackets and the mid control brackets, and the same screws are in the forward control kits (eg: kit # 33397-07A).

They're: # 4748, ⅜" - 16 UNC × 1⅛" socket.head, grade 8.

The screws which are just there to hold the j-clips in place (on bikes with mid controls) are: # 4076, ⅜" - 16 UNC × ½" socket.head.

Length is OK, but they should be ⅜" diameter allen heads (UNC threads), not 5/16".

Yeah, 4076, are the ones I have, i meant 5/16 is this Allen key size. When i was ylooking last night the holes go through and the isolator is formed with a notch for the bolt to intrude but too long of a bolt and it might bury into the isolator. I'll check and post.

Well, I was at work this morning and I guess I should read more before posting. I missed the idea of the bolt that holds the clevis on the forwards support rod (4748). That is supposed to be the same bolt as the one that holds the mid bracket on as you mentioned.

The (2) bolts supplied in the 91-03 forwards kit (to replace the OEM left mid bracket bolts) are shorter than the OEM ones to account for not having that chunk of metal there to hold down.

Page 1, #1
http://xlforum.net/forums/showpost.p...33&postcount=4

After checking my instruction sheets, this is the same (clevis to support mounting bolt) on the 91-03 model forwards (4748).
Page 3

The -08 parts book shows this same bolt for the passenger peg mounts.

Easy peasy, take this bolt off the forward support stud or passenger footpeg mount and match it for the mid bracket.

Or, do as Folkie said, "They're: # 4748, ⅜" - 16 UNC × 1⅛" socket head, grade 8".

Post back if you can with the official length used.

L to R, 4076 bolt for forward holes without mounts,4748 longer bolt when mount is used (looks like the longer bolts for mount will not intrude into the isolator), aftermarket bolt

ugh!

Thanks.

Not counting the head, they are right around the lengths listed, maybe an 1/8" longer, as measured with a tape measure.

I need one more short one. I'll verify threadsize tomorrow when i pick up a new one at Lowe's.
