Default To hone or not to hone... that is the question

I've read many of the old threads about wrist pin bushing replacement. I've just received my reamer and new bushings are on the way. Many have stated not to hone after reaming for fear of tapering the ends of the new bushing. Is a reamed finish good enough?

even a reamer can bell mouth the bushing. to do it right, it needs to be fixtured. with proper speed and process, no need to hone.

good call with the fixture.the fsm shows a picture of the one the dealerships used.i copied it and made my own.it's out in the cold weather so there will be no pictures today.i don't hone.the reamer cut's the precise o.d.

As a prior machinist I can say that after reaming a hone should not be necessary....with the caveat that the reamer must be in good condition. A fixture is always a good idea. None of this using a hand drill stuff either.
