Default Want to add bags

Hi all. I have a 2018 Custom 1200. Had the Turn Signal Relocate kit put on by Dealer under 60 Days for Warranty. Now I am starting to look for a set of Bags. Harley has some nice ones. The hard ones used on the 1200T. And the set of Leather bags with the Sportster logo on them. The 1200T bags look easier to install. But are Pricey.
Has anyone installed the Docking Hardware? Reading the paperwork, Its talking about Lowering the Swingarm. Something I have Never done before. My thoughts are to put the bike in a Wheel Chock. Use my Motorcycle scissor Jack to raise the rear. Remove the Lower Shock Bolts and Nuts. And raise the Jack just enough to get the Hardware in. And lower the Jack to get the Shocks reattached. Hopefully not running into a Problem.
Thanks for any Input

Sounds like a good plan.

Thank you. Most likely I will be installing Solo. Thought I would ask first. Before I ran into a problem.
As far as the Bags, I want ones that will attach to the bike. Had a set of Will Max Black Jack on a Street 750. Until one of the Tabs attached to the bottom the bag ripped off. 75 MPH on a curvy road.

Bolting the bags to your bike should not be difficult to do, and there are mount system available commercially.

I made my own mounts for my 98S model.
These dims won't work for yours but the concept is the same.
I used the Easy Bracket locking detachable mount system.

I just ordered a set of Cobra Bag Supports. After I install them, I'm measuring. Maybe I can fit the Will/Max Black Jack Large??

Being the resident bag whore may I ask one question.

It sounds like you're going through a lot of work to basically add cheap, floppy, leaky, non-secure bags. Are you sure that's the way you want to go?

I haven't used a set of bags like that since the 90s, not after I started riding with BMW guys with their Krausers.

The Harley OEM stuff is still a hard, locking, waterproof bag just it's covered with leather.

Hepco&Becker (https://www.motomachines.com/) make a bunch of bags (also pricey though) on the C-Bow mounting system that at least are leather covered but are locking and quick-detach and pretty much waterproof.

LeatherLyke (http://leatherlyke.com/) was my choice on a rubbermount Sporty more than a decade ago and they're still going strong.

Wittco makes hand laid fiberglass bags that can be custom mounted. http://www.hardbags.com/

With the ghost brackets you can adapt just about anything (and actually C-Bow brackets are available for the same use).

I'm just saying there are a bunch of options that still look good and are more functional in the long term. Just something to consider.

If you will take pics of the process, I will include them along with the dims in the Sportsterpedia.
Maybe someone else can benefit from it.
