Default A few more filter options

I ran across a few more filters that could be used on our Sportsters.

All are 3/4 X 16 threaded.
Most are marketed toward the "racing" community.

I hadn't seen the K&N HP series before.

Code:
+-----------------------------+-------------------------+-----------------------------------+-------------------+------------------+----------------+-----------------+
| Filter | Media | Media | Height | OD | Bypass setting | Anti Drain Back |
+-----------------------------+-------------------------+-----------------------------------+-------------------+------------------+----------------+-----------------+
| Canton 25-164 | 8 micron depth media | 13,000 mile street element change | 3.4 | | NONE | yes |
| Canton 25-264 CM Oil Filter | 8 micron depth media | 15,000 mile street element change | 4.25 | 3 | NONE | yes |
| Fram HP 1 | 94% at 20 micron | | 5 3/4" | 3.672 | 22 psi | yes |
| Fram HP 3 | 94% at 20 micron | | 3.75 | 3.633 | 16-28 psi | yes |
| K&N HP-3001 | High Flow Premium Media | | 5.719 in (145 mm) | 3.656 in (93 mm) | yes 8-11psi | yes |
| K&N HP-2009 | High Flow Premium Media | | 5.063 in (129 mm) | 3 in (76 mm) | yes 11-14psi | yes |
+-----------------------------+-------------------------+-----------------------------------+-------------------+------------------+----------------+-----------------+
The Canton filters (from the maker of the Accusump) use a replaceable 8 micron (I assume that is a "nominal" rating) multi layer depth filtration media.
The short filter flows 12 GPM, the longer one flows 15 GPM.
Should be no problem for a Sportster that likely flows less than a 1 GPM
They filter all the oil all the time, no bypass included.
They suggest 13,000 (25-164) - 15,000 (25-264) miles of street driving between element changes.

edit: More information on the Canton Filters. The 2019 Canton Catalog and several web sites show the spin on filters as blue anodized.
The Canton web site and some others show black filters.
All current production has changed to black anodized (the short spin on filters are still aluminum colored)

An article on the Canton Spin on filters showing a cut away of the media-
Check Out Canton Racing’s New Billet Spin-On Oil Filter Design

Canton also makes a 6 1/4" 3/4 X 16 filter for those who like longer filters.
The Fram HP-1 is 5.9" long.
The K&N filters are both over 5" long.

25-164 CM Oil Filter 3.4" Billet Spin-On 3/4" -16 Thread 2 5/8" O-ring

25-264 CM Oil Filter 4.25" Billet Aluminum Spin-On 3/4" -16 Standard O-Ring

The Fram racing filter media-
Low-restriction racing media designed for high oil flow.
The media features 94% efficiency @20 microns for excellent engine protection.
Recommended maximum oil flow: 10-18gpm, depending on model.

I probably wouldn't use it either, with a 61 micron "nominal" rating.

I may have to swing by Sage Karam's WIX sponsored Indy car to see what filter they run.

I see HD has released an updated filter for the M8 models.
A Service Bulletin was released on 3/3/2020, M1510.

It appears to be a SuperPremium5 that is a half inch longer.
They say it has 25% more filtering area.
They also say the Twin Cams should continue using the older filter.

Canton-Mecca oil filters are very common in the auto racing world, and have been widely used for decades in all forms of car racing. I was using them on my race cars in the 80's, and they were old news then. They are known to be a high quality, effective filter.
