Exactly!

I've never had any trouble with either method sealing.

98%+ of all sealing problems are due to the lack of a carb support and/or cylinder head alignment.

ALL IRONHEADS need a brace from the air filter backing plate to support the carb and air filter. The manifold mounting was never intended to support a carb with no brace.
