Mine are really close to being flush. Mine is a Rubbermount though. Not positive why that would make the difference though!

Do notice other exhaust makers for Sportsters do not guarantee fit for rigid years only 04+. Maybe this is why, it all comes down to maybe 4-5mm off

The pipe I borrowed was for rigid mount,I have never had a pipe where the flanges bottomed flush on the heads

It looks like a Screamin Eagle style gasket is still in the port to me. Get a pick, hook it and pull it out.

I studied the pic and I am pretty confident that there is still a gasket in the exhaust port. If you say you took one out already, I’m guessing that maybe someone installed a gasket on top of a gasket in the past.

Ok the exhaust is in was waiting on another set of flanges. There was no gasket this was a 100% stock bike I bought it new in 2003 so just the metal mesh factory gasket came out. I used the screaming eagle gaskets instead of their billet ones. Did have to adjust the rear brake lever up a half inch. Going to rain tomorrow so Ill shake it down Wednesday afternoon.
