Isn't the oil bag about 2-1/2 quarts? (usually anyway)

My First Sportster. I was going by the book. 2Qts in the Tank. 4 Ounces in the filter. I used 2 Qts conventional 20/50. And topped off with Synthetic leftover from the Street 750. I changed the Oil and Filter at 500 miles. Weather has been bad. Always raining on my days off. Haven't been able to get it fully hot and check in the garage.

Done some benchmarks... temps never goes over 100 celsius degrees...
Ergo..
20 degrees celsius less than before....

I had that on my former ride... which had the cooler mounted on scavenger line...
This time i leave it like it is... mounted on feed line... no thermostat...

i hope a cover in winter will do the trick... it is enough for burn condensation that temps rise over 70 celsius...

Default An update on the OEM oil cooler without thermostat

It works fine and drop between 15 an 20 celsius less than before...
as said... as posted... a thick foil of rubber (now covered with aluminium tape) will cover the cooler when temps will drop...

Only issues can be riding for some time, like yesterday, under a big thunderstorm with heavy rain...

not that i do ride in these condition often (i'm careful and pay attention to prevent that... but it can happen... yesterday also there where many thunders, and in high mountain they earn your total attention... it's safer to stay riding on the bike, nonotheless i think if i was hit by one of these, my bike would be tranformed in an hybrid one)

in these condition oil temps dropped a lot... and also (obviously) you can't flog the bike... at least as long as they don't introduce a TC like any other bike of the same segment...

so...
without oil cooler under the rain in summer i noticed temps around 85 celsius...
with oil cooler, yesterday, temps where around 73 celsius... only a bit over the danger zone of 70 celsius (according to Mo.Co. specs).

In similar conditions it can be useful a manual bypass valve...
