Default Bert's Fuel Economy / Mileage / L per 100 KM Calculator

I put this together a while ago and have been using it to track the fuel economy on my cars and bikes.

I figured I would share it with you so that you can also track you fuel economy if you want to.

The spreadsheet can be opened with Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice CALC (you can get OpenOffice for free at www.openoffice.org) and will automatically calculate your MPG or Liters per 100/KM.

The first sheet if for MPG calculations and the second sheet is for L per 100/KM. You can switch between sheets at the bottom of the workbook.

To start the calculations:

1. Fill your tank completely and reset your trip odometer
2. The next time you fill up write the miles or Kilometers from the trip odometer on your fuel reciept and reset your trip odometer. (also write down the total amount of fuel that it took to fill up if it is not on the reciept - take a mental note of the amount of fuel before you pay since some gas stations reset the pump right after payment and you may miss it if it is not put on the receipt by the cash register).
3. On the spreadsheet enter the Miles / KM ridden (you can also enter the TOTAL MILES / KM but it is not required)
4. On the spreadsheet enter the Fuel -Gallons or Fuel Liters

That's it!!

The spreadsheet will keep track of your total distance ridden since you started tracking it and the total avg fuel economy.

The spreadsheet is password protected. To unlock it the password is xlforum .

Thanks, Bert! I kinda track this in my head every time I fill up ("hmmm, I got about 47 MPG this last tank...hmmmm"), but it might be interesting to save up the receipts and see how things go long term, after oil changes, during hot days vs. cold, "spirited" riding vs. leisurely... Then again, maybe I'll forget and just ride!

P.S. When ya coming back to visit the US of A?? The Indio, CA get-together a long while back was great.

Yeah, I track that way also but it is nice to have the exact numbers. I actully have a totally different spreadsheet for my tracking since I buy in liters but track MPG. If anyone one needs this spreadsheet let me know and I will post it also.

Probably will not get back to SoCal until next summer.

I got 42MPG but I ride pretty hard. Since doing my mods I picked up an extra 9miles to a tank before hitting reserve.

My mileage varies from 39 to 58 mpg. Strangely enough, the 58 occurred in the Colorado mountains.

I have a 1964 XLH. It's pretty stock but has pretty free flowing exhaust (not drag pipes), K&N filter and a CV carb with big jets.... whatever the stock size is for a big twin. I don't know why I needed such big jets but that's where it runs right.

With spirited riding, I get 40MPG. I have gotten ~50MPG.

Bert, I just saw this. I've got a spreadsheet that does the same thing. You'll be hearing from my lawyer shortly!

Also noticed a formula error in column E. 1st numerator has a typo.

Openoffice keeps opening this as a protected read-only document, how do you open it to be editable?
