Default 1979 iron head sportster exhaust

i am starting to work on a 1979 sportster. in the process of making some new forward controls for it. but the exhaust coming out of the front cylinder is in the way of the right side control future location. i was told that you can get a different exhaust pipe that changes the route of the front cylinder exhaust.
i see 79 sportsters exhaust on ebay and on jpcycle, but how do i know if it is going to be the one i need or not?? does anyone on here have an exhaust that i need? or a picture of one?
thanks in advance!

Virtually all of the A/M exhausts for 77-85 will fit if you fit forward controls. The weird two inta on the 79 is because of the rear master cylinder location.
A lot of guys went to forwards jut to get rid of their unsightly exhaust.

The rear pipe for a 79 will have a kink in the down tune to clear the rear master cylende,r 1I I put pipes off a 1980 by replacing the sprocket cover with one from an 80 model.

The forwrd controls have the master cylinder moved to the front where the pegs are.
That's why some people went for them,
The forwards that came on my 79 were horrible. Unnatural. Like trying to ride a bike sitting backwards on it. Or standing on your head.
I suspect that's partly why I got it for $1200. Original paint with a new S&S Shorty E on it.
