Default Please help with muffler identification

Bought this muffler on ebay.

Has 5 holes inside drilled on a 45 degree plate, holes are around 3/16" diameter (sorry for a bad pic of them). Is it OEM or aftermarke? Doesn't look like Gasbox (pic from their site).

What's the length overall , body length ,etc. ?

From the position of the flat spot on the body I believe it might be a -61 interconnected duals muffler.

I'll look at my 61 today.

Magneto will probably be along soon with better info.

Thank you, Don!

Overall length is around 15.47".

The tip that goes into the header pipe is 1.38" long, 1.89" diameter, the slots on it (there're 2) are 1" long.

The other tip is 2.04" long, but it looks like maybe it was accurately cut off because there're some burrs on the end. Same diameter.

Body length is 13.78" if it is defined as overall length minus the tips or 8.58" for just straight cylindrical surface. Body diameter is 2.57".

All the measurements could be off by few % since all I have at this moment is a tape ruler.

The metal is around .04" thick, but again, measured by a tape ruler and my eyes are not so good anymore.

Chrome looks too shiny for an old OEM, pics that I posted actually look more "vintage".

Well I looked at my 61 today and I believe yours looks just like the top muffler of the -61

inter-connected duals.

61 xlch 7 - 2012 005 by don rothwell, on Flickr

I'm basing most of my identification on the location and depth of the flat spot, but others may be the same.

I'm sure a real expert will be along shortly.

Thank you, Don! Beautiful bike!

I've also bought a vandalized muffler from ebay that's sailing my way, so right now all I have are the pics from ebay listing:

Wonder if I can make a shorter 65230-53 muffler out of it (the bottom one of the interconnected duals). As I understand, the inner tube is straight throughout, so I need to separate and remove the tapered ends of the outer tube, cut the outer tube shorter and put the taper ends back somehow.

Inner tube's length will stay unchanged (or will be shorten a little bit) so I'll have the tip for the header pipe and the other at the outer end of the muffler.

Then few more years of searching for header pipes)))
