Default Died while riding

So last night I was on a ride, about 30-40 minutes, all country roads so cruising around 80-90km/hr, when I start feeling the bike loose power (kinda like the feeling of loosing a cylinder and running off of one). The bike chugs along then cuts out and stops running - all electrical still working. I come to a stop, have a look, nothing seems odd so I fire the bike up with no issues. It runs smooth for another 2kms then does the same thing. That happens probably 4-5 times and then won't fire up at all.

I got it towed home and checked the spark at the plugs, both sparking fine, so that takes the ignition coil out of question at least while cold (could be faulty when hot). Any other ideas?

Thanks everyone!

I will pull all the wires doing business with the ignition to check for a broken strand wire. By pulling, I mean to stretch the wire to see if the copper strand are still conducting the juice.

Intermittent trouble are mostly found there.

Would definitely check plug wires and if you have old wires switch out. Feel the coil if excessively warm after it starts acting up would think in the ignition system and what ever you moved changing plugs might be a fault in the wires

you just stumbled acrossed one.your ignition coil.works fine when cold then fails when the temp.rises.this has been found before.it's not uncommon.

Thank everyone, I haven't had time today to narrow down the issue but I'm going to pick up a new ignition coil for the hell of it. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it - or so they say. So IF the coil isn't the issue, eventually it will be and I'll be ready

You can check the coil for heat failure with a hair dryer - When the engine has been sitting cold - preheat the coil - then fire it up and see if it has issues...
