There's another thing I found with the Rush mufflers. The baffles are pretty small compared to their advertised size.

On their 1 3/4" baffle the biggest OD socket I could run thru the baffle (have to have the baffle out and go from the inlet end due to the bar across the outlet end) was 1 1/8". 1 3/4" baffle with louvers deep enough its' actual ID is ~1 1/8". I got a set of 2" baffles. The actual core is the same but the louvers don't protrude as deeply. The 2" baffles want more fuel at larger throttle openings compared to the 1 3/4" baffles. The 2" baffles do seem a bit louder but they're deeper and less "sharp". They have a better tone. There's a section of solid wood slat fence I ride along leaving the area I live in and there's definitely less echo off it with the 2" versus the 1 3/4".

I'm not into LOUD pipes but I do like the 2" baffles better.

I was actually going to go with the 2" when I was considering them. Little deeper and louder.

The HP Plus baffles are all the same diameter except for the end they attach to the pipe/slip on to center them. Just different lengths. More golf balls as I call them.
Thought about cutting my current ones shorter. One golf ball at a time. Add more top end and a little louder. I've got another set here with 3 but for a 2" pipe. I think the ones in the slip ons have 5. The ones I had in my drag pipes had 4. The exhaust goes thru them and around them with narrower passages between each golf ball which is how they diffuse. They really are a unique looking baffle.

I just mounted the Khromwerks. They sound great and no decel pop. It seems the slip on part of the muffler is a loose fit onto the headpipes. I had an exhaust leak, so I loosened the mounting bolts and the muffler just slid right off even after having the clamps tightened. I applied copper sealant so I will test this morning. Also if your not running the muffler heatshield, the Khromewerks doesn't mate flush with the header heatshields. You will have that gap. The black is a nice match. Without having a wrinkle finish its as close as I think you can get to the same color. It didn't gray after last nights ride.

I wonder if you can have a muffler shop use their machine to squeeze the slip on portion of the muffler a bit to tighten the tolerance, so that it slips into the head pipe with friction? If so, this should allow an even tighter fit when you tighten/torque the muffler clamp. One last thing; I have seen where, sometimes if the muffler clamps are just tightened and not torqued to the manufacturer's or factory settings, they will remain loose and move around on the head pipe. Do you have any video of the bike idling or maybe even some throttle blips?

Good deal. Nice deep rumble at idle that open up nicely when accelerating, huh?
I didn't have the loose fit but I did use new clamps and tightened good. I'm also not using stock headpipes. Cut my old drag pipes for headpipes but I'm not sure that should make a difference.
They won't discolor from heat.

Make sure your clamps aren't slid on too far. They have to be where the slots are in the clamp area. The clamps won't tighten up the fit without those slots. Sometimes the slots need to be cut longer.

Yeah, I barely cover the beginning of the slots.

I have them identical to how they were on the stock pipes. Flush. The khrome werks are set up identical to stock. The rear is fixed. I had to take the front back off today and add more high temp copper sealant. It’s setting. I will start it up tommorrow and see. It’s just a slight leak in the front. However, HD had that front one so cranked that the head pipe is slightly oval, as is the muffler that came off.

Default Rush or Khromewerks slip ons?

Really impressed with the throttle response and sound. I expected decel pop without a tuner, but nothing. They have a nice low rumble and are barely noticeable at cruising speed. I love the idle.

Red hi-temp silicone will seal them up but it'll be hell trying to get them back off...
