Did you get a title with that frame? Even if you are using it for racing it may make it hard to sell in the future if you don't have a title

My 2005 standard XL883 came without rear passenger foot pegs and mounts. I ordered an aftermarket set with good reviews. Does anyone know if the exhaust bracket has to be loosened or removed to install the right side mount?

I'll install it regardless, but I did have to remove the exhaust bracket to remove my mid-control brake pedal rod and install an adjustable one. That was a PITA for what should have been a 15 minute job. It was worth it, but what an ordeal!

UPDATE: Good news, I did NOT have to remove the exhaust interconnect bracket to install my right side passenger foot peg. I just dug around to find the correct size tools and "gotter done" in less than a half hour. The left side took about 15 minutes. I do recommend installing the foot peg to the bracket before installing the unit. Once on, spray some lube on the foot peg to loosen it up because there was no lube on it before and it is a tight fit. I'm very pleased with the results.

stopped at the stealership, bought a part for my 2010 xl1200 low.
it was $1.07, and they had it in stock.
has to be the cheapest part they sell?
it was the o ring to seal my oil filler cap.

I put a period-correct Harley 2-up seat on it and rode it to breakfast on Saturday.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it (especially if you don't know what you're doing). Most Sportster problems are owner-induced.

The sportster is the best looking bike Harley ever built and there /\/\/\ is proof.

Beautiful bike. You have what I want for mine, the tachometer and the alloy wheels. Harley got this one right the first time.

Just like you, when my friends ask me what I ride, I tell them, I have a Sportster or "Sporty". They respond with , "Oh, you got a Harley!" I respond, I have a Sportster. Then they ask me when I'll step up to a big (or "real") Harley, as if that's a given. I respond, "I bought a Harley to get a Sportster, not the other way around. I have what I want." Then they look at me like a deer in the headlights. At that point, I change the subject or just walk off without being rude. They can't help it if they're ignorant on one of the finer points of life.

Just before I bought my Roadster there was a local barn-find XLX for two grand. It was tempting (especially with not one bit of pigeon graffiti) but it sold before I was done work that day.

I have to agree that this one, along with my Roadster, are among those rare occasions that Harley got the look just right the first time.
