Default Fuel injection quick connect o-ring

I have a 2007 XL with fuel injection. I had the gas tank off and installed it on the bike. There was a gas leak at the quick connect after I snapped the gas line in. I pulled the o-ring out of the gas tank quick connect and it was damaged. O-ring in hand I went to the local dealer to get a replacement. I was told that the o-ring was unavailable by itself and I had to purchase the entire fuel injection set up! My work involves a lot of o-rings (don't ask) so I said "no thanks" and went down the street to Lowe's. There I found a pack of ten o-rings for about $2.50. I went home installed the Lowe's o-ring in the fuel quick connect and installed the tank on the bike without further leakage. Today I rode the bike to work and 24 hours later it is still not leaking so I think the Lowe's replacement is all good. The number of the o-ring I bought at Lowe's was a #41. I put a spare in my tool kit on the Sporty. If you have a quick connect gas line I would suggest purchasing a pack for cheap insurance. A damn bit cheaper than purchasing an entire fuel injection set up.

I have done this once also. Lesson learned for me. Always lube o-rings and seals.

2007 Low, you posted in another thread a MS28775-5 part number. Is this the o-ring that goes in the line at the ball/spring? Or is this for up in the coupling itself? Mine started leaking on it's own just sitting, and it's the o-ring in the line that's chewed up. I'm guessing it's from the weird temperature changes here in NC this winter.

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for all of your knowledge!!! i was able to fix mine this afternoon with all the info I found on the forum!! I replaced both the o-ring inside the coupling, and the one in the hose. The small one in the hose was a -010 by the way. Thanks again!!

The MS28775-5 is what I use up inside the coupling. Sorry I didn't notice this question for such a long time.
