Default Ultima elec ign 40 degree timing

If my Ultima was programmed for kickstart...6200 rpm and 40 degree advance....what does the 40 degree advance do w the timing? How or do I manipulate anything to get my 45

most electronic ign will revert to base or zero degrees when shut down, this is a must for a manual foot. the 5 degrees will not matter much and can actually help with bad fuel. but if you insist, you can advance the module 5 degrees by using a dial back timing light.
that said, maybe it will and maybe it won't, could add a potential of kick back, not a good thing with a manual foot.

Just time it with the Tdc mark at the rear of the timing hole and that will get you pretty close to 45 degrees advance. Or use the rear piston, when it's at the top you are at 45 degrees before Tdc on the front.

Yes uaed the single dot n set it at the back of hole n got it to fire on 3rd kick....nrfore that I went off the vert line then double dots which gave me crazy kick back...saw a diagram for early sportster timing n it shiwed the singke dot at rear of window n thats the best it's neen so far so that is def the answer

This is true. Good advice for static timing the ultima using the TDC mark and adding 5° to the programmed full advance setting.

This is true too, but it's not the right crank position for timing the ultima. Good for static timing with points on a 900 though.
