If the owner is being truthful it would be a good buy for just the right person.

"Lots of secrets" inside may mean nothing at all. But here in Oz it often means the contents of the box are bigger than the advertised size. (yeah, some people cheat)
We generally treat our race engine with more respect than the average owner. Regular maintenance as well as regular oil changes.

For someone wanting to get out on the track and "have a go" themselves this would be a cheap entry into the sport.

yes, it's a gamble (they ALL are) but given that any other clapped out Sporty will set you back $1200-$1500 it's not that big a gamble.

Last time I took a gamble on something it turned out to be a big bore stroker. Not sayin' this is one but you never know until you get them i your hands.

I’d say the owner is on the level and there easily could be $3k into the engine/trans. The “secrets” don’t have to be a stroker, it could be all the good parts and tricks to make it live under race conditions.

But it does look like a well raced bike and racing takes it toll. How used up is it?
I agree it’s for someone looking for a hooligan bike (and not the casual craigslist shopper)

If I buy a race bike it has to be out of the paddock after the last race.

Seen a few where the bike was taken home and the good bits "renewed" before being delivered to the buyer.

But looks like a picture of the guy racing it and if he's had wins the engine is probably worth the price.

You can only race against the guys who turn up.

And even last place is in front of the guys sitting on the fence telling their mates they could "go faster"
