I have almost 270,000 miles on my 2006 1200R. I did destroy my engine at 206,000 miles but that was my fault, not the bike's.

The only issue is some parts are no longer available from Harley. I was surprised to find the regulator is obsolete and no longer available, however they are available from after market sources such as Cycle Electric

Thats shocking. No pun intended. That Harley is out of certain parts. I think I will get a regulator. Can you think of any other parts I might need in the future? The bike resided near the beach. Exposed to salt air. I did about 150 miles on the bike so far. Lovin it

2006 was the last year for that regulator. It's not uncommon for a manufacturer to cease making parts for older vehicles, ask the iron head owners. Regulators are still available from Cycle Electric, the is who made the one in my at the moment and it was brand new. The friend I borrowed it from has already replaced it.

Not aware of any other parts off the top of my head

Good luck with it!

Does the dealer keep files on repairs for a specific bike/VIN ? I bought my '04 R from a guy who bought it from the dealer used. I would love to know it's history, specifically if any clutch work was done by the dealer. I know my '06 R I'm building has never seen the dealer since it was bought
