Default Exhaust Clamp Fitting

I've been having an exhaust leak at the head where the exhaust pipes connects. Do I cut extra slits into the inlet of the exhaust pipe or create some sort of shim for the head with an aluminum can? I have torqued the exhaust clamp down to the point where I don't want to strip the bolt or damage the clamp. What have you guys done?

Not much info to go on from your question, I'll say remove pipe, remove flange from pipe, make sure flange is flat. Remove all traces of the old gasket from inside the head, then install new gasket being sure to install it straight with no deformation. install pipe and torque to factory spec........no tighter! That should cure any leaks. If not report back.

Sorry for not being very clear. I snapped a shot of what I'm talking about. You can see at the base of my pipes where the exhaust leak is happening. It's basically not making a complete seal around the exhaust extension from the head.

My 85 has a thicker material clamp. Not as wide but much thicker in material. That style should work on yours as well. I can see why yours would leak.

I used new exhaust clamps that came from the local HD dealer. Do you have an idea of which clamp I should be using?

I am not using dealer clamps on my 1980. But if you can find these at a industrial supply house. They work pretty good for me.
