Touring? I've never owned a "touring bike", frame mounted fairing, hard bags and tail trunk equipped barcalounger. I'd rather drive my car...
Some of my rides are just longer than others. Some are 5 miles, some are 3,000 or 4,000+ miles.

1200 CC Sportster with Frankenstein Trike rear end and springer forks. Built it myself. I put around 300,000 miles on it with one engine swap and one top end rebuild. Used to take off from Florida and ride up to Maine every summer. Went to Laconia 3 or 4 times, rode the White Mountains, rode the lake country of New Hampshire and the mountains of Vermont. Rode all over the Adirondack National Forest in upstate NY. Some years went up through Big Stone Gap one time, went all the way up Blue Ridge Parkway from Cherokee to Shenandoah National Park and keep riding through that one year. Another year I rode up through Alabama into Kentucky and mostly backroads all the way to my son's house near Cooperstown , NY.

Maybe you can't tour on a Sporty, but I damn sure ran up some miles on one. After I retired, rode 10,000 to 12,000 every summer north to Canadian Border and back down here to Florida. Usually put another 20,000 miles on with 2 and 3 day runs over to Biloxi or up into Georgia, sometimes weekends around Pensacola or Mexico Beach.

Glad I did it when I was able to. I am too old and busted up to do more than a couple hundred miles now. A week of back to back 500 miles would put me in the hospital.
